Distinguished Service Award

The DSA is given to an academic, consultant, or practitioner who exemplifies sustained, consistent, and excellent service to the development of the discipline of supply chain management. The selected individual will have shown high integrity and moral principles throughout their professional career. While many distinguished individuals have been nominated for the DSA it is imperative that the emphasis of this award be on distinguished service. This award is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an individual for achievement in supply chain management.

Who Is Eligible?

All individuals who have made contributions to the field of supply chain management are eligible for the DSA. This includes practitioners with responsibilities in a functional area of supply chain management, consultants, and educators – anyone who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of supply chain management. For example, a person could be nominated for contributions or innovations involving technology, for contributions in educating others in the concept of supply chain management, or for increasing awareness of the general business community of supply chain management's role in the overall economy. Please note: Not eligible for consideration are current CSCMP Board of Directors, the current annual conference chair, the current annual conference program chair, individuals currently under contract with CSCMP research, and CSCMP staff members.

Nominator's Responsibilities

As a nominator, you are responsible for demonstrating that your nominee deserves this award. You must provide evidence that your nominee has made contribution of long-term impact to the profession and that the contribution exceeds the level of expectation of the individual's day-to-day job performance. The contribution could involve a seminal idea such as the introduction of bar coding, the application of lean manufacturing, or innovations in procurement as examples.
