The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) Announces the 2017 Supply Chain Hall of Fame Inductees


Lombard, Illinois USA (October 13, 2017) - The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) names Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, George Laurer, the inventor of the Universal Product Code (or UPC) and Dr. Nancy Nix, the 2017 CSCMP Distinguished Service Award Winner, as the 2017 Supply Chain Hall of Fame inductees, honoring individuals that have made outstanding contributions to the supply chain discipline. 
 
“Our organization represents thousands of supply chain professionals across the world. The Supply Chain Hall of Fame allows us to recognize and archive the significant achievements of those who have been at the forefront of shaping the discipline of Supply Chain Management,” said Rick Blasgen, CSCMP president and chief executive officer.
 
The Supply Chain Hall of Fame was first initiated in 2016, and the initial inductees included all past Distinguished Service Award winners, JB Hunt, founder of JB Hunt Transport Services Inc.; Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company; and Malcom McLean, developer of the modern intermodal shipping container. Inductees were chosen for their thought leadership, creation or advancement of innovative technologies, and overall contributions to supply chain management.

"The 2017 inductees into the CSCMP Supply Chain Hall of Fame are clearly people, whose innovative spirits and achievements are worthy of recognition – not just from our industry but from the communities and nations they have impacted.,” said Rich Thompson, CSCMP Board of Directors and International Director at JLL. “We are incredibly proud of the advancements brought forth by these distinguished individuals.”
