Talent: An Essential Supply Chain Resource

Talent: An Essential Supply Chain Resource
In the midst of a tepid global economic recovery, the prospects for expanding roles, widespread employment opportunities, and solid salary growth seems out of place. Yet, this is the reality for today’s supply chain professionals. Though the outlook is bright for supply chain professionals, organizations face a talent supply-demand gap. Recognizing the importance of this issue and the critical need for organizations to enhance their SCM human capital, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) commissioned the SCM Talent Development research study, conducted by researchers at Auburn University and Central Michigan University. This edition of Hot Topics summarizes and highlights this study's investigation of the SCM talent requirements of organizations and how they cultivate future leaders. The resulting three reports shine a spotlight over the leading strategies and practices for the acquisition, development, and advancement of supply chain talent, from entry- to executive-level.
