Creating a Model of the Retail Business

This coyrighted case* was a finalist for the CSCMP 2012 Supply Chain Innovation Award™.  A leading technology appliance manufacturer's retail supply chain faces challenges in managing profitably and efficiently due to the fact that many of the items sold in the manufacturer's stores are highly specialized and/or have high price points. This results in intermittent demand patterns that are difficult to forecast by traditional methods. However, in order to truly have a complete model of the retail business for planning purposes, a solution to this problem was critically necessary in order to be successful. Please note: Case study fees are nonrefundable.*© 2012 Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).
