Description:

Dallas Fort Worth Roundtable CSCMP  - September 9th - Luncheon Meeting

"Leveraging Supply Chain Management to Impact the Bottom Line"

Speaker:
Dave Malenfant, Vice President, Global Supply Chain
      Alcon Laboratories

How does Supply Chain Management help a company drive positive bottom-line results?
Can we learn lessons from pioneers in this area that can be applied to other organizations?
How does one get started?

Forward-thinking companies are seeking every opportunity to maximize revenues, minimize costs, drive global business objectives, and return to healthy profitability levels within a sustainable model.  New models and approaches are desperately needed to promote further alignment of diverse business units and to ensure that ‘everyone is pulling in the same direction’.

The examples discussed in this presentation demonstrate how Alcon Laboratories, Inc., the world’s largest eye care company, has successfully leveraged supply chain management practices to achieve bottom-line results.  The concepts and tactics discussed can be utilized by any organization interested in capturing similar benefits.

Dave Malenfant brings over 30 years in Supply Chain Management.  After graduation from the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, he worked in several Supply Chain management positions with Wyeth Ayerst Canada.

In Canada, Dave was Co-founder and President of Signature Consultants, Inc., (1973) a business, finance and economic consulting firm.  Signature Consultants, Inc. was sold in 1993.  Dave implemented and operated several other business initiatives that are still profitable in Canada.

Dave has worked for Alcon Laboratories, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas since 1993, holding positions as Purchasing Manager, Materials Operation Manager and Director Global Supply Chain.  Dave is currently Vice President Global Supply Chain.  As Vice President he provides strategic direction for the company’s Global Supply Chain initiatives.

Over the years, Dave has been responsible for the implementation of over 30 different computer systems – WMS, ERP, Finite Scheduling, Order Entry, among others.  Dave is past chairman of the Supply Chain Council.

At Alcon, Dave’s group continues to focus on operational efficiency and lean initiatives that will ensure that Alcon has a world class supply chain.
