Located in the Historic Hamm Building in the heart of downtown Saint Paul, their building rests on the original site of the St. Paul Cathedral, where they are blessed with a natural spring water well. The secret to their fabulous hand-crafted beers: holy water from this well. On any given day they will have up to NINE hand-crafted beers on tap, including four CAMRA compliant cask-conditioned ales. The CSCMP Raleigh Roundtable invites you to see Raymond E. Owens speak about the current direction of our US Economy. This discussion will highlight some key information that should help guide and shape demand forecasting in your organization's supply chain. Ray Owens is a senior economist and research advisor in the Research Department and has been with the Richmond Fed since 1983. Owens has published academic articles in fields as diverse as monetary policy, financial markets and economic development policy, but he spends most of his time analyzing national and regional economic conditions. In addition, he frequently talks to groups on current economic developments and is regularly quoted in the financial press. Owens created the Richmond Fed’s monthly surveys of manufacturing and service sector activity. More than five years after the end of the Great Recession, economic conditions in the U.S. and abroad continue to perform at a subpar pace according to prevailing opinion. Mr. Owens will examine the current economic setting and discuss prospects for the economy going forward. Along the way, he will ask what is "normal” economic growth and labor market activity. He will conclude by reviewing the path of monetary policy in recent years and provide an update on prospective policy in the near-term future.
