We will be touring over 100 acres of the Boston Harbor operation at the Conley Terminal and if a ship is in port that day we will see the cranes unloading and transporting containers. Some of the operations we will see include: • Six post-Panamax container gantry cranes capable of lifting 40-50 long tons each • Twelve rubber tire gantry cranes • Miscellaneous yard equipment • Ten-lane gate facility with computer tracking system • Customs mobile x-ray equipment if in operation that day • Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) • Reefer yard and container storage areas • Ship berths over 2,000 feet long • Truck drayage from Conley Container Terminal • Clean truck program Attire: Please dress casually and wear comfortable shoes (closed toe only). You might be doing some walking outside and moving among heavy equipment. Registration closes the weekend prior to the event. Join CSCMP Milwaukee for a two-part event at Whistling Straits, the future site of the 2015 PGA Championship and 2020 Ryder Cup, on Thursday, September 25, 2014. The event will begin with a reception and recap from the Global CSCMP Conference, which concludes the day before. It will be held in the Irish Barn at Whistling Straits, a distinctive fieldstone overlooking the golf course. Food and soft drinks will be provided and there will be a cash bar. Following the CSCMP Global Meeting recap will be the second part of the event – a nine-hole round of golf on the Irish Course at Whistling Straits Golf Course on Lake Michigan. This shotgun start round of golf will be limited to a total of 28 people on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to sign up early to get your spot to play on one of the America’s top 40 rated golf courses. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony and cocktail reception in the Irish Barn. Join our roundtable on October 8th, 2014 as we tour the facility of Phoenix Contact, a global leader in the electrical engineering and automation industry. Phoenix Contact offers terminal blocks, which include relays, signal conditioning, and controller system cabling along with over 6,000 other products! Come hear how the company evolved in the US along with what supply chain initiatives led to the design and implementation of a world class distribution center. Phoenix Contact was founded in 1923 in Essen Germany by Hugo Knümann and was initially called the Phoenix Electric Company. In 1928 the first product was manufactured "a terminal block". In 1943 they moved to their permanent home in Blomberg, Germany where they reside today. The Middletown or US headquarters was built in 1981 with a small warehouse, training and customer service center. Since inception, the current Middletown facility has been expanded multiple times. A new corporate building was added in the 90's and a new fully automated AS/RS high rise freestanding building was installed in 2008.
