Harpoon Brewery all started with three friends who shared a love of beer. College classmates Rich Doyle and Dan Kenary were passionate about beer, but weren't able find what they were looking for at their local pubs. While traveling in Europe after college, they drank many diverse, fresh, local beers and experienced firsthand the wonderful beer culture that existed just across the pond. In February 2013, Harpoon opened the doors to a new Beer Hall. After more than a year of planning and construction, fresh Harpoon beer began to flow through 20 taps and the Austrian-made automated growler filler. The Beer Hall has long wooden tables, a big bar, and great views of Boston and Harpoon’s canning and kegging lines. A system of catwalks was built so that visitors can tour the brewery any day of the week. Previously, brewery tours were limited to weekends when actual brewing and canning were shut down. And the canning line? That is new too. It was commissioned in March and has been a welcome addition to the brewery.

Both UPS and Fedex have announced the implementation of dimensional weight pricing for shipments beginning in January, which could add as much as $1 billion in higher shipping costs in the first year alone. What is dimensional weight pricing? Simply put, it means that charges will be the greater of package weight or size. While it sounds simple enough, there are many misunderstandings in the details of this change which the Mr. Ampuja will clear up. He will also outline specific things shippers can do to offset the financial impact of the pricing model. Jack Ampuja leads Supply Chain Optimizers – the North American leader in packaging optimization – which counts e-commerce shippers such as Toys-R-Us, Target Stores, Office Depot, United Stationers and American Girl as customers. Because of Supply Chain Optimizers 25 years of experience in re-engineering shipping cases for maximum logistics efficiency, Jack has written or been interviewed for eight trade journal articles on dimensional weight pricing in the past two months. These publications include Supply Chain Management Review, Material Handling & Logistics, Distribution Center Management and DC Velocity.

Roz has extensive railroad industry experience, having served in various capacities for over 11 years at the Association of American Railroads (AAR).
