REI DC Tour

The Council for Supply Chain Management (CSCMP) AZ Roundtable invites you to join us Tuesday, September 12th at 2 p.m. as we tour the first distribution center in the United States to earn LEED Platinum and a Net Zero Energy designation, the REI Distribution Center in Goodyear, AZ.

Offering over 396,000 square feet of efficiency, sustainability, brand support and demonstrated employee engagement, the facility delivers a unique experience from the front door including a meandering entrance through a desert landscape, a botanical garden with outdoor activities adjacent to the employee breakroom and the ability to benefit from shorter cycle times to replenish product in store, along with reaching 20% more customers with two-day ground service.

Utilizing one-touch, omni-channel technology, “it’s the first-time shuttle and pocket sortation technology have been brought together at one goods-to-person workstation for true omni-channel fulfillment in a high-velocity pick environment,” said Rick Bingle, REI’s vice president of supply chain. Bill Best, Divisional Vice President of Supply Chain Operations suggests, “We’re seeing combined picks and puts in 6 seconds,” Best says.
