Conflict Minerals Compliance Hassle or Opportunity?
In August 2012, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) passed new rules regarding the responsibilities of public corporations to disclose information on the existence of conflict minerals in the companies’ respective supply chains. These rules have already taken effect and deadlines for compliance were in May of 2014. Companies with supply chains that have potential exposure to conflict minerals can produce and manage the information necessary to comply with these rules and realize incremental benefits beyond compliance from new investments in appropriate technology solutions. This issue of CSCMP Hot Topics describes how supply chain and compliance professionals can apply supply chain data analytics practically to address a specific business issue and the corresponding enterprise benefits.
