The Raleigh Roundtable Chapter of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) invites you to join us for a speaker event featuring Charles HW Edwards from the North Carolina Center for Global Logistics (NCCGL) on March 31, 2015 at 2:00PM. Come see Charles explain the latest news from the NCCGL and the current/future state of global logistics in North Carolina. Edwards is currently the Executive Director at the North Carolina Center for Global Logistics and also has a long resume of leadership and consulting experience in the global logistics field. The North Carolina Center for Global Logistics is a membership organization created through a collaborative project of Guilford Technical Community College, Davidson County Community College, Forsyth Technical Community College, Randolph Community College, and the Piedmont Triad Partnership. Their Vision The North Carolina Center for Global Logistics (NCCGL) will be recognized as the resource center for the Transportation and Logistics industry by providing elite education, workforce development and advisory services to all individuals and businesses requiring assistance. The North Carolina Center for Global Logistics will become a resource for logistics information on a national and international scale.

During the event we will observe United Aircraft Ground Operations, Airport Operations Center, Ground Ramp Tower, and Tour United Cargo Warehouse. Stephen Aicher, CSX Cincinnati Terminal Manager, will inform CSCMP tour attendees of the CSX intermodal network and how Cincinnati plays a role in the network. The Cincinnati ramp handles over 2,000 lifts per week by working up to 8 trains per day. In this CSX operates 21,000 miles of track in the eastern US and is one of six Class 1 railroads in North America. CSX marketing slogan of "How Tomorrow Moves" is driven by their H2R initiative otherwise known as 'Highway to Rail". It is through this initiative that CSX hopes to convert shipments that currently move over the road to move by intermodal.
