Description:Always wanted to learn more about tugboats and barges; and, how they operate in the ports and along the U.S. Marine Highways? Look no further, this is the event to attend!!! Please join Baltimore CSCMP for the Marine Highway and Strong Ports presentation provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration (MARAD) and a guided tour of Vane Brothers. Established in Baltimore in 1898, Vane Brothers supplies marine transportation services (primarily transporting petroleum products via tank barges) all along the U.S. East Coast and as far south as the Caribbean Sea. Vane Brothers vessels also operate on the West Coast, bunkering ships in Puget Sound and performing dock-to-dock transfers in California. Attendees are invited to participate in a tour of the second-floor Fleet Operations Center, where Vane Brothers’ team of Chartering & Scheduling managers and dispatchers plan and monitor the around-the-clock movements of the company’s 50 tugboats and 75 barges. Attendees are also welcome to visit the third floor, which holds maritime artifacts and offers a nice nighttime view across the Patapsco River to the Seagirt Marine Terminal.
