Norfolk Port Tour

The Raleigh Roundtable would like to invite you to tour the Port of Virginia. The tour will include lunch and networking on site. Located in the Hampton Roads Harbor on 567 acres along the Elizabeth and Lafayette Rivers, Norfolk International Terminals (NIT) is the Virginia Port Authority’s largest terminal. NIT has a total of 6,630 L.F. of berthing dredged to 50’ and is capable of handling 12,000-14,000 Twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) vessels and served by 14 Super Post-Panamax Class quay cranes. NIT is divided into three major sections: the South Terminal (272 acres), the North Terminal (245 acres), and the Central Rail Yard (approximately 50 acres). It has direct rail access to Norfolk Southern’s Heartland Corridor, allowing second-day double-stack service to Midwest markets. NIT also has substantial working and storage track space to accommodate rail volume through Virginia. The facility is configured for one-over-two straddle carrier operations and has a total static capacity of 33,000 TEU’s or 18,966 containers. Thousands of daily truck moves are processed through 17 interchange lanes and two on-terminal transfer zones. Future plans call for an expansion of up to 26 interchange lanes. Norfolk International Terminals is located adjacent to Interstates 64 and 564 and Hampton Boulevard in Norfolk, with additional easy access to US Route 17 and US Route 58. LIMITED TO 20 PARTICIPANTS. All registrants must provide photo identification. The registration list will be provided to the Port of Virginia prior to the event for security. A waitlist will be set up when this event fills. Long pants and close-toe flat-heel shoes are required. CODE-RNDTB
