Automated Store Order Palletization

This copyrighted case* received First Place in the CSCMP 2015 Supply Chain Innovation Award™ competition. The Automated Store Order Palletization system palletizes mixed-size cases with throughput five (5) times faster than the manual operation. The resultant pallets are more stable, denser, and safer, reducing labour cost and product breakage, maximizing cube utilization on outbound freight, while improving safety and overall service to the stores. The proof of concept was confirmed in a prototype line and 15 of the 28 store order accumulation lanes are currently being retrofitted with the new automated system. Please note: Case study fees are nonrefundable.*© 2015 Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).
